Concrete block sizes in the UAE — 4-inch to 10-inch, with full dimensions
Every Tiger Stone block size explained — hollow, solid and insulated, from 4″ to 10″ — with exact millimetre dimensions and what each width is used for.
TL;DR — In the UAE, concrete blocks are named by their width (the wall thickness) in inches. Every Tiger Stone block is 400 mm long and 200 mm high; only the width changes: 4″ = 100 mm, 6″ = 150 mm, 8″ = 200 mm, and the 10″ insulated = 250 mm. So a "200 mm block" and an "8-inch block" are the same thing. Choose the width by the wall's job — the length and height stay constant for clean, predictable coursing.
Hollow blocks — the default for most walls: 4″ is 100 × 200 × 400 mm (non-load-bearing internal partitions), 6″ is 150 × 200 × 400 mm (partitions and many boundary walls), and 8″ is 200 × 200 × 400 mm (load-bearing and external walls). Lighter and more economical, and the hollow cores take vertical rebar plus grout where the design needs reinforcement.
Solid blocks — full density in the same footprints: 4″, 6″ and 8″ (100, 150 and 200 mm wide × 200 × 400 mm). Use them where you need maximum density in a thin section — piers and pilasters, the lower courses of tall or exposed walls, retaining and below-grade courses, and walls that must hold heavy fixings.
Insulated blocks — two concrete shells around a 60 mm EPS foam core, for external walls in the UAE heat: 8″ is 200 × 200 × 400 mm and 10″ is 250 × 200 × 400 mm. Same 400 × 200 mm face as the others, just a thicker wall, with the foam core cutting summer heat gain on the building envelope.
